Cormorant

Cormorants are widespread and regularly seen birds in Britain. They are found on fresh or salt water catching fish in long underwater dives from the surface. Although mostly black in colour it's the head that is worth a closer look. A bright emerald green eye is set off by the white and yellow facial colouring. This commonly seen bird can be found all around the coast of Britain and increasingly at inland sites, where it breeds in tree nesting colonies. The main diet of the Cormorant is fish, but they also eat vegetable matter.
