This is an abundant species in England, Wales and Ireland, but is less common in Scotland. A Summer and Autumn species, this Dragonfly may be one of the last found on the wing and can be seen well into November. It catches its prey of flying insects by darting out from a perch and returning to the same spot to eat its kill.
